There is currently an airfare deal from SFO to Copenhagen starting at $387 with Star Alliance airlines. Denmark is an expensive country, but taking advantage of cheap airfare and using points for hotels could be a great recipe for a fun getaway.

These Star Alliance fares are close to the fares offered by low cost carrier Iceland Air (SEE: Icelandair Chicago / ORD to Reykjavik / KEF economy flight review).Most itineraries are on Star Alliance partners Air Canada, Lufthansa and SWISS. The tickets appear to be basic economy, although they do earn miles. Most itineraries will earn you over 12,000 Premier qualifying miles if credited to United.
