If you took advantage of the recent Alaska Air miles sale, and want to book some late spring travel you’re in luck. Alaska Air has launched a “flash” awards sale with large discounts for flights around the U.S. This isn’t a system-wide sale, and you’ll have to search their award sale page for routes from your chosen city. There are numerous 5K one-way flights, and many more from 6 – 8K. Domestic flights seem to top out at 12.5K with some international flights at 15K. The best deals may be for flights to smaller airports, depending on your personal valuation of Alaska miles. What I find most interesting is Alaska’s inclusion of Hawaiian flights with this sale, specifically routes to Maui and the Big Island of Hawai’i from California, for 12.5K miles + $6. Southwest Airlines specifically excluded Hawaiian flights from their fare sales after the launch specials, so if you are looking for a cheaper option to Hawaii this might be a great opportunity chance for you. Getting a round trip flight from Oakland to Kona from 25K miles is a good deal!

These are one-way flights, with fees ranging from $6 – $35 (international only). Officially the deal is for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday travel, but I see flights available from Monday – Saturday. Tickets must be purchased 21 days in advance of travel. Sale prices are for flights from May 7 – June 12, with blackout dates from May 12 – May 28. See the sale page for more restrictions. Act quickly, as the sale ends on April 18 (Thursday) at 11:59 PM Pacific Time
