Alaska Air has launched a flash sale across it’s entire route network, with some very low prices. Check your email for the subject line “Flights starting at $29 one way, thaw out with new travels.” The sale is also available from AlaskaAir’s website.
The cheapest fare is $24, from Seattle’s new Paine Field to Portland. But there are plenty of flights available at good rates. Competitors are matching some of these deals, but often their basic economy costs the same as Alaska’s main fares, so look carefully when booking.
Unlike Southwest’s recent sales, Alaska is including a few fare deals to/from Hawaii.
Alaska offers both Saver (basic economy) and main cabin fares during sales, which is a great opportunity to “buy up” at an effective rate. I’ve highlighted main cabin fares below, since getting seat choice and Alaska miles is worth a few extra bucks in my book. These fares require 21-day advanced purchase. But this is a flash sale and you must buy before 11:59 Pacific Time on January 9th for these prices.
Sample Fares from City Pairs in Main Cabin Economy
- San Francisco and Phoenix for $69
- Denver to Seattle from $94
- Seattle to Burbank from $89
- Chicago and Los Angeles from $109
How to Book
- Visit the airline to search for sample dates and destinations
Travel Dates
- Travel valid valid Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from January 28th – March 11th
- No minimum stay required
Good luck and happy flying!

I found out about this deal early this morning and proceeded to book few trips to PDX in Feb and March. I have Chase Ritz card which gives me $100 off on any pair of domestic roundtrip booking. My final cost on PAE-PDX was $2.30 after the discount. Yes, $2.30 all in for a round trip per person and I will earn 1000 Alaska miles per trip.
Btw, if you are booking directly from Alaska not through Ritz Carton Visa discount program, you have one chance to select your seat at the time of booking on the Saver fare… typically last few rows designated as Saver fare seats. Only catch is that once it’s selected, you can’t change it at all.
