Avianca Airlines, Colombia’s national airline, is celebrating 100 years in business and thus hosting a sale on several routes between the United States and Central and Latin America. These are discounts are on specific routes as opposed to a system-wide sale, but there are bargains to be had. Flights mus be taken between April 30 and June 20 with one exception noted below. The specific routes are:
- Los Angeles to Guatemala City from $430 (travel between May 1 and June 28)
- Miami to Bogota from $480
- Miami to Lima from $600
- New York to San Salvador from $660
- New York to Bogota from $680
- New York to Medellin from $680
While these are the advertised fares, lower prices can be found. For instance: I found rates from Miami to Bogota from $378 round trip (see example). These are basic economy fares, including a checked bag and meals but not seat selection. These fares also earn Avianca LifeMiles at 50% of distance flown; rate for other Star Alliance partner programs can be found at WhereToCredit.com. But while LifeMiles is considered to have some great awards deals, they are also known as a difficult program to deal with at times. Act quickly: these fares are only good through April 8, presumably midnight Bogota time.
