In 2026, on a trip to the Canadian Maritime provinces, my wife and I stayed three nights at the Chateau Moncton, which is a Wyndham Trademark Collection hotel in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. This Chateau Moncton review will give an idea of the different amenities and features of the hotel and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re looking for a New Brunswick hotel.

Chateau Moncton New Brunswick location

The Chateau Moncton is located at 100 Main Street, Moncton, New Brunswick. It’s located in the heart of Downtown Moncton New Brunswick, right on the Petitcodiac River. It’s a great spot to see the Moncton Tidal Bore, which was a pretty amazing natural phenomenon that we got to experience right from our hotel room.

Chateau Moncton cost

We were looking for a cheap Moncton hotel, but didn’t want to stay in the absolute cheapest hotel out there. I had been looking at using points and checking various programs when I thought to look at Wyndham. The Chateau Moncton cost about USD$299 per night, but it was only 15,000 Wyndham points per night! Even better, because I have the Wyndham credit card and get a 10% discount, it was 13,500 Wyndham points per night, giving a value of 2.21 cpp. We actually got upgraded to the Monarch Suite (see below), which meant that the actual value we got was closer to 2.5 cents per point.

I’m not sure this is a great deal if you’re paying cash, but using Wyndham points it is an outstanding deal.

Chateau Moncton New Brunswick hotel review – Monarch Suite Upgrade

We had booked a standard 1 bedroom room, but when we arrived, I used my simple hotel upgrade strategy and asked if there were any upgrades available for Diamond members (I have top-tier Diamond status due to having a Wyndham credit card).

The lady at the front desk checked and then said that she would have to check with her manager because the only upgrade available was “3 levels up”. She left and after a short time came back and said it was fine. We were upgraded to what I believe is the Monarch Suite.

Each room at Chateau Moncton has the name of a castle next to the room number, and a blurb about the castle on the back of the room door. We were in Room 320, Hanzinelle.

Upon entering the room, there was a living room with a couch, chair, table and TV.

Our room overlooked the river.

There was also a desk and minifridge.

You then walked down a narrow hallway, with the bathroom opening up on the right. The bathroom was enormous. First, there was a bathroom area with double sinks and a tub.

Then there was an entirely separate area that had a gigantic shower, with both overhead and body jets.

It was difficult to get a picture of how big this shower was. One small downside is that the shampoo / conditioner / soap bottles were far away from the actual showerhead, which meant that you had to get out of the hot water to get any shampoo or soap.

Continuing down the hallway was the bedroom. This was not “technically” a suite since it didn’t have an enclosed door, but it probably would be difficult to sleep more than 2 in this room anyways. The bed was quite comfortable.

Chateau Moncton wifi and amenities

Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms. The Chateau Moncton wifi speed was decent and I had no issues using it.

There is a small fitness center on the first floor.

There isn’t a separate business center, but instead there is a computer and printer on the first floor near the lobby.

To the rear of the property, overlooking the Petitcodiac River was an outdoor seating area. We ate breakfast here one day and also relaxed out here to see the tidal bore when it came.

There was a grill available for hotel guests.

Wyndham Trademark Collection Chateau Moncton hotel review – parking

The Chateau Moncton does have complimentary parking, which was plentiful. I was actually mildly surprised by this, given its location right in Downtown Moncton, but there was never an issue finding a spot.

Chateau Moncton food

Breakfast is complimentary at the Chateau Moncton – it’s served in a breakfast area right off the lobby.

One interesting thing was that they had someone serving the buffet breakfast, rather than it being self-serve. There were eggs, bacon, and sausage, which came out in the silver buffet-style containers, but you had to ask to be served.

I don’t know if this is something where they are just trying to be “fancy”, or if it’s a cost-saving measure because people don’t take and waste food when they have to ask for it, but it was a bit strange.

There is also cold cereal, breads and a pancake maker.

There is a bar area that is available from 3-11pm.

There is a market near the front desk with overpriced food and other sundries

The Bottom Line – Chateau Moncton hotel review

If you are looking for a great Moncton New Brunswick hotel, I thought that the Chateau Moncton had several things going for it. It was very easy to get to from the highway, and the price was decent. I think the Chateau Moncton could be a great option if you’re looking for a hotel in Moncton New Brunswick.
