Earlier I posted TAP Portugal’s one-way business class deals from Dublin to Chicago and San Francisco from around $700. I should have checked Miami prices as well, as TAP often runs deals to Florida. Sure enough, the business class Dublin deal is live for Miami at $792. That includes wide open availability in July and AugustThat’s cheaper than one-way economy in most cases this summer.

As always with TAP that includes a free Portugal layover of up to 5 days if you book directly with the airline. The deal shows on OTAs as well; you may find different dates but sacrifice the layover. You can also choose to pay with Chase Ultimate Rewards points through the Chase portal or transfer partners. I expect more TAP business class deals will appear this year, and I will post them when I see them.

Using This Deal from “Europe”

A reader noted that I discussed this business class Dublin deal as a great opportunity for “European” travel, and was dismayed that I seemed to substitute Dublin for “all of Europe.” What I was trying to explain was that this is a great way to return to the U.S. if you have booked a cheap fare to Europe and want to explore the continent a bit.

Most travel is round trip, and most people also stop there when planning. But buying two one-ways can mean avoiding mandatory stay lengths or Saturday stayovers. Then can provide extra flexibility in plans. And they mean you aren’t locked into one city for travel.

There’s no reason you can’t combine this deal with, say, a $253 one-way summer flight from Miami to Paris. Or maybe a $155 flight to Amsterdam next Spring for tulip season. Or a flight to Venice in the fall for $185. You can take any number of cheap flights to Dublin (like maybe $59 from Venice) and grab lie-flat seats back to the U.S. Stay as long as your vacation time, passport, or heart desires, and then come back with memories of many beautiful cities instead of one.

Or take trains and ferries to Ireland (trips I can vouch for), as these are much superior to their American versions. Enjoy a slightly slower pace through Europe before a comfortable flight home. And if you’re based in Ireland (or, anywhere in Europe), you can always do the same thing in reverse, with the business class Dublin flight kicking off a trip to the US before catching a cheap flight back.

This, and other one-way deals, can be part of a world of opportunities…or at least a continent’s worth. If you’re on “gap year”, have some stocked up vacation time, or maybe have left the rat race altogether, perhaps a tour of Europe and a business class seat home is just what you need.
