Star Alliance member and United Airlines partner SAS has launched a sale to it’s namesake region for fall and winter travel. Sale prices are good from late August through March of next year; these include around Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Presidents Day but not Christmas and New Years. Prices are discounted from all of SAS’s U.S. cities to Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Bergen. Most prices are right at $398, though a few range as low as $371 and as high as $476. The following US cities have sale prices to all of the noted Scandinavian destinations:

  • New York
  • Chicago
  • Los Angeles
  • San Francisco
  • Boston
  • Washington D.C.
  • Miami (Copenhagen and Oslo only)

These are SAS “Go Light” (basic economy) fares. That include carry-on, and seat selection is free from 22 hours prior to departure. However, checked bags from the US are prohibitively expensive with Go Light fares ($110 each way), so if you must take extra luggage it’s probably better to buy up to the next class of service. This isn’t a flash sale, as prices are good until May 19, and with fares available nearly every day from August until the end of March you can plan your trip, including seat and baggage requirements, without pressure.
