Amtrak is promotion-happy right now!  In addition to saving 35% on Amtrak travel recently, you can also earn double points on qualifying Amtrak travel taken between October 1st and November 16th.

Here’s the catch (don’t worry, it’s not that bad):

  • Must be an Amtrak Guest Rewards member.
  • Must register for this offer online at Amtrak.com/DoubleDays to participate.
  • Members must include their membership number when making reservations for travel to qualify.
  • Limit of four qualifying one-way segments per day.
  • Amtrak Guest Rewards points will not be awarded for cancelled or refunded reservations or tickets.

All in, pretty standard terms for this promotion.  The “Double Days” promos from Amtrak come around a few times a year, and offer a good opportunity to bank some extra Amtrak points.  Although I wouldn’t go out of your way to plan travel to maximize this promotion, it’s worth registering for.

How to Register

If you got the email, simply click that link.  Look for an email with the subject line “[NAME], register in one click to earn double points.”  Scroll down a bit, and you’ll see a “Register in 1 Click” button.  Click that and you’re in!

If you didn’t get the email, try logging into your Amtrak account and then clicking this link to register.  You’ll also get an email confirmation once you’re registered.  I just went and signed up my whole family, we might be able to use this!

With Amtrak travel, you earn points based on the dollars you spend as well as your status level in the program.  Check out the chart below to see how much you could earn.
