This week there was an interesting incident on a RyanAir flight into Malaga, Spain. After a one hour delay prior to take off in the UK, the plane ended up sitting at Malaga as well. No explanation came from RyanAir as to the cause of the additional wait.
Then one passenger decided to take matters into his own hands.
Exit wing right
The man decided that he would simply exit the plane through the over-wing emergency exit. You can even see the video of the incident. Other passengers (at least whoever was filming) thought the incident hilarious.
If you couldn’t already guess, this is a major breach of security. The emergency exits are for…well, emergencies. The man was immediately arrested at the airport and will probably be fined.
This reminded me of the incident at SFO where a teen took off across the taxiway after jumping out the emergency exit. Situations like this are rare, but there are always a few crazies in the sky willing to pull a stunt like this.
