I got an email today that the Ebates shopping portal is offering 12% at select merchants today only
If you don’t know how Ebates (or shopping portals) work, basically you go to Ebates, and they have a cashback amount for every merchant. As long as you click through to the merchant from Ebates, you should get the applicable percentage in cashback into your Ebates account (after a couple of weeks). So let’s say you were going to buy a new basketball at Dick’s Sporting Goods (one of the 12% cash back merchants). It cost $43.21 after tax – you’d earn $5.18 into your Ebates account after a few weeks.
Typically (but not always) gift cards are excluded – check the fine print. If you have the HP Amex Offer, I’ve heard that physical gift cards ARE tracking, and HP is ALSO one of the 12% cash back merchants today, so $350 in gift cards has a better than even chance to net you $42 in Ebates cash
Combine with $50 Ebates referral promo?
I wrote last week that Ebates is currently offering a promotion for referring friends to sign up. Normally the referral bonus is $5 per person, but through the end of September, they are offering a $40 bonus if you refer 2 friends (so $50 total). So if you haven’t signed up, or know a friend or family member who hasn’t, now would be a good time!
