Earlier this week, I wrote about an opportunity to get 500 bonus United miles for opting in to email communications. Companies must REALLY want to get a hold of me, as now I just got a letter offering 500 bonus Amtrak points for opting in to email communications
So I went to AmtrakGuestRewards.com/Email and saw the following screen:
I checked those 4 boxes and hit submit.
The fine print says that you have to opt in to all 4 and remain opted-in for the next 3 months (through November 30th).
My experiences with Amtrak
Our family just got back from a roundtrip on Amtrak last month. We used 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to transfer to Amtrak to purchase 2 sleeper cars roundtrip, something that would have cost $6500!
We had a blast on our Amtrak trip…. but I’ll probably never travel Amtrak again, at least not with kids
Is this promotion targeted?
My letter DID say that it was only valid for the person receiving the email, but I’ve had good luck with similar promotions in the past being open to all. At the very least, check your snail mail to see if you received this promotion.
If you didn’t get the promotion and you’re signed up for email communications, you might want to consider unsubscribing, to give yourself the option to receive promotions like this in the future.

I wasn’t targeted but unchecked them all in hopes of being targeted later. Thanks for the tip.
I got the letter too. Opting in now!
Amtrak is great for short trips around the Northeast!
Thank you, mike
