I got an email from United this morning offering 500 bonus miles for opting in to receive emails from their partners
Clicking through to check my account, and I notice
As you can see, I am unsubscribed to MileagePlus Partner emails. I am sure that is no accident as generally I uncheck those boxes when signing up for things.
Is 500 bonus miles worth it?
That’s the question, right? I generally subscribe to the belief that free miles are free miles. With the new Google Inbox, promotions and marketing emails like this generally get filtered out pretty well, so I will probably sign up.
Only you can decide whether it’s worth it to you. It certainly could provide a way to extend any miles that are close to expiring.
Full terms and conditions state that:
Please allow 6-8 weeks after completed qualifying activity for miles to post to your account. Bonus miles will be credited to your account approximately 5 months after you’ve opted in.
Note that according to the promotion, you do need to sign up by August 31st, AND stay opted-in for 3 months. It does not appear to be targeted though I could not tell for sure.
What do you think? Is it worth it? Are you signing up?

Any chance of somehow signing up without the email?
It’s hard to say for sure – I think it’s worth a shot!
Is there a link?
What I did was to go to the My Subscriptions page at united.com
