As I was the first to report a few days ago, it looks like the American Express refer a friend offers are now BACK.

Hot off the heels of Chase announcing a series of refer a friend offers, I logged in to my American Express card and noticed that there were some similar offers loaded in the “My Offers” section.  Normally I think of those as where I go to get the Amex Sync offers

But this has some potential as well!  In looking back through Google and such, I see that this is not the first time that American Express refer a friend offers have happened, though I have not seen anyone publish this latest series of offers, and it does appear to be fairly wide-spread

Is this American Express Refer a Friend offer targeted?

I clicked on the link, and sent a sample email to myself to verify what it would look like.  But then, a few days later, I logged back into my account, and the Refer a Friend offer was GONE.  I know I wasn’t just seeing things (because I took a screenshot!!), but I was unclear as to whether it would still work, or was perhaps a temporary glitch.

But from PointsCentric we now have confirmation that the American Express Refer a Friend bonus is definitely live.  You can check at the American Express refer a friend landing page to see if you are eligible.  You can log in with your account information or with your card information.  My wife has the Amex Delta and the Every Day Preferred, and to get the referral offer with the Amex Every Day Preferred, she had to log in with her card information (otherwise it just shows the Amex Delta offer).

When I log in with my account information, it tells me I am not eligible.  All I have is the Amex Hilton, since I just closed my Amex Delta card when they wouldn’t give me a retention offer.  I still managed to use it for $180 in free gift cards on Small Business Saturday though!

Which cards are eligible for the American Express refer a friend offer?

When it told me I was not eligible for the American Express refer a friend bonus, it did link me to a page that shows the eligible cards.
