You can now transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Air France and receive a 25% bonus. This offer will end June 15, 2018.

American Express offers periodic transfer bonus to its partners and is currently offering a transfer bonus of 25% to Air France.  Normally they transfer to Air France 1:1 (technically 1000:1000) but for a limited time only you’ll get 1250 Air France / KLM Flying Blue miles for every 1000 Membership Rewards transferred

Here is the basic terms of the bonus offer:

  • Minimum transfer is 1,000 Membership Rewards points.
  • Redeem for this exclusive offer from 12:00 a.m. MT on May 1, 2018 to 11:59 p.m. MT on June 15, 2018, to receive 25% additional Flying Blue Miles.
  • Additional Flying Blue Miles will be awarded at the time of transfer.

One bonus of transferring to a foreign airline is that you don’t have to pay the US excise tax on transfers, which is nice.

Hawaii for 12K miles?

One of the sweet spots on the Air France award chart is that you can fly one way from the US to Hawaii for only 15,000 Air France miles.  That means that for only 12,000 American Express Membership Rewards, you can fly to Hawaii!

Hawaii is on my bucket list and the last of the 50 states I haven’t been to, so I’m definitely looking at this.  The only problem is that I burned almost all of my Membership Rewards to fly business class to Asia for 95,000 Membership Rewards points!
