By now many of your probably already know there is a brand new Westin resort in Maui. The Westin Nanea Maui resort just opened in April, slightly ahead of schedule. Don’t worry if you didn’t spend some 250,000 SPG points to winĀ the Grand Opening package through SPG moments, we will take you on a photo tour in this post.
Location of Westin Nanea Maui
The Westin Nanea Ocean Resort is located on the popular Ka’anapali beach on Maui. In addition to the on-site facilities, guests at Westin Nanea also has access to theĀ Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas next door. Ā If you need a map ofĀ the new resort, it can be found here.
After months of waiting, I finally checked into the new Westin Nanea Ocean Resort in Maui yesterday. I have to say the new resort is fantastic, as you can see in the dozen photos below.
Open-air lobby
The Villas
Westin Nanea features one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom villas throughout the resort. Each villa contains a living room with separate dining area, a full kitchen, washer and dryer as well.
Bedrooms feature Westin Heavenly bed & bath. You can find a big bath tub and double sinks in the bathrooms.
Beautiful resort ground
The resort features two plunge pools, a heated lagoon pool, and separate splash pad for children. The grounds are simply beautiful. There is one restaurant and a pool bar in the resort. There are outdoor BBQ grills in case you feel like doing some grilling.
We are staying here for five nights and I can’t wait to share our experience! Stay tuned!

Room looks nice, but not 1-bedroom – more like a studio as there is no doors separating bed from kitchen, and shockingly no door between bath, toilet and bed… Bad design?
Grounds: buildings are close to each other, making them feel crowded, Westin could’ve have spread them more apart.
Kids pool with turtles and sand is a nice touch, but main pool has too many “islands” – makes it very unpractical to swim in it. Pools are for swimming, right?
Where is the real beach?
Also from the photos “open-air lobby” does not look like open-air: closed doors, enclosed walls and ceiling from all sided…
Hope you’ll have more to show later.
Have a great holiday there!
I am actually staying in a two-bedroom unit. I didn’t feel the need to show photo of 2nd bedroom in this post. š In the master bathroom, there are disappearing sliding doors that would open/close and separate the bedroom and bathroom. I thought it was smart as it gives more open feel to the room. The lobby runs in a circle, with one side open to the courtyard. The pool is not designed for lap swimming for sure, slides are meat for little kids. Beach, well, it is on the other side of the beach front path and there is no chair, that is the real disappointment.
Thanks for reply.
Open feel – may be, but less privacy and convenience. 2-bedroom unit implies 2 separated bedrooms with (may be) additional sleeper sofa in the living room. Your unit is more like a 1-bedroom + studio.
Is there a balcony?
So this resort is not oceanfront; does nearby Kaāanapali Ocean Resort has a nice swimming beach? On the map it shows public beach park there as well…
Overall this resort seems to be built on the cheap – judging by the cabinetry, appliances, building/ground designs. Not saying it’s not a decent place to stay on the island, but simply comparing to other newly built resorts around the world.
And on the last note: for Hawaii they surely should’ve used bright colors instead of boring beige & brown tones – gram-ma’s style is not appropriate there..
My unit is a true two-bedroom with a living room with a pullout sofa, a full kitchen, washer & dryer, and two full bathrooms. My balcony has a view of the ocean and has a big table for six people. It is not a 1-bedroom plus studio. Unlike the Ka’anapali Ocean Resort next door, the units in Westin Nanea are not lock-off units. The quality in the units are decent in my opinion. In terms of design color, everyone’s taste is different I would say. Beach is a real disappointment here, that is why I still prefer Wailea area despite how expensive Wailea is.
