From now through May 31, 2017, you can purchase American Airlines AAdvantage miles at up to 40% discount.
The tiered discount starts at 10% when you purchased the required minimum of 11,000 miles, The discount tops at 40% when you purchase the annual maximum of 150,000 miles.
With the discount, the cost for 150,000 miles comes to $2,885 including taxes and fees, that is roughly 1.92 cents per mile, The cost is slightly better than AA’s last buy mile promotion in February this year, but not the lowest we have seen in the past.

Always do the math to see if it makes sense for you to purchase mile, even though the current sale isn’t a bad deal at all. Also keep in mind that award availability on AA is hard to find lately, so the best use of AA miles currently are on partner redemptions.
