American Airlines has expanded their $97 fare sale from earlier in the month. New cities have been added with prices the same starting from either location. Fares are good for mid-week departures, with scattered weekends as well. There are limited dates still available the Spring and much wider availability in the Fall. Current sale cities include Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Raleigh, Nashville, and Palm Springs.
These are basic economy fares with American, which include a carry-on. It may be possible to find cheaper fares with low-cost carriers, however, these all charge for carry-on bags. That and other fees typically raise the price for a ticket to more than those offered by American during this sale; with all 3 major carriers, you can choose to buy up to main cabin and add seat selection in addition to your carry-on, but with this sale the price bump can be prohibitive.
