A good deal to Bangkok just opened up from the West Coast. good for May travel. The timing is excellent, as the rainy seasons starts in Thailand in June. The absolute lowest fares are available from China Southern Airlines, though China Eastern and Hong Kong Airlines are also offering deals below  $500 round trip. The San Francisco deals are available for Thai New Year (April 16) as well as the coronation of Thailand’s king scheduled for May 4-6, while the Los Angeles deals start arriving just after coronation.

  • Los Angeles from $423
  • San Francisco from $458

A great note about the China Southern fares is that they include seat selection (towards the rear) as well as checked bags; these are essentially “main cabin” fares though they book as “Economy SuperDeals.” When booking be aware of itineraries with long layovers (8+ hours) in China. These can be avoided easily, but just make sure to book shorter options. Also a reminder: China Southern left the SkyTeam Alliance on January 1, 2019, so any miles possible on their flights would only work with their individual partnerships.
