I wrote earlier this morning about my 4 favorite changes to the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program (along with one big negative).  Overall, I am pretty pleased with the changes – anytime an airline rewards program announces “changes” to their program and it’s not a huge disaster, I count that with a sigh of relief 😛

Linking Virgin America and Alaska accounts

While I’ve seen the news about linking of Virgin America and Alaska Airlines accounts happening on January 9th, I have not seen any official notice of individual accounts being linked, though it’s possible that I’ve missed the announcements.

Nevertheless I got an interesting email today

But… my accounts are linked

I got an email from Virgin America earlier today with the subject line of “Daniel, it’s a match.  Now get set to reap the rewards!”

Inside, it gave the standard messages about the program and how excited we should all be.

It mentioned that on January 9th, all Virgin America customers will get a new Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number, but somehow they had already matched my numbers out (redacted above).  I assume through some sort of combination of name / address / personal info.

Interestingly, a few other people that I talked to did NOT receive this email, so I’m not sure why I did…. I’d imagine that it will go out to others over the next few days.

In case you’re curious, the “please let us know” link goes to a page on alaskaair.com that lets you enter in your information if they got it wrong (in my case they did not)

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there’s a way to have you link your account if you didn’t get this email, and I probably would not worry about it – I’m sure the tech folks at Alaska will get this straightened out

Did you get an email like this linking your Virgin America and Alaska Airlines accounts together?
