I got an email this morning about an offer for Chase Freedom users at Bed Bath and Beyond, for $20 off of a $40 purchase.

To use the coupon, either print it or show the barcode at the Bed Bath and Beyond store when you make the purchase.

(UPDATE: Several people have reported not getting this email so it DOES appear to be targeted. ┬áSorry for getting your hopes up čśÇ )

Manufactured Spending opportunity?

I mention this as a possible manufactured spending opportunity as I believe many Bed Bath and Beyond stores carry gift cards, including Visa and Mastercard gift cards.  You can see a picture of the gift cards offered at one Bed Bath and Beyond stores at this Travel Sisters post.

You’ll also remember that Bed Bath and Beyond is one of the 5x categories for Chase Freedom during the 2nd quarter.

So if you haven’t met your $1500 in spending for this quarter, this would be a great opportunity. ┬áThe coupon is good through July 27th, but of course the 2nd quarter ends on June 30th.

The fine print says

Valid for in-store use only. Limit one coupon, Savings Certificate, special offer or discount per item. Cannot be combined with a price match. Limit to one customer per visit, single use only. Purchases are subject to Bed Bath & Beyond’s return policy. The price of gift cards, shipping, or sales tax are not counted toward any minimum purchase required, and coupon cannot be applied to such items. Coupon cannot be redeemed for cash. Offer excludes the following: Alessi, Arthur Court, Breville┬«, BrittoÔäó Collection, Brookstone┬«, DKNY, FitbitÔäó, kate spade, Kenneth Cole Reaction Home, KitchenAid┬« PROLINE, Kosta Boda, Le Creuset┬«, Lladr├│┬«, Miele, Monique Lhuillier, Nambe┬«, Nautica┬«, Nespresso, Orrefors, Riedel, Roomba 800 Series Vacuums, Shun, Swarovski, Swash, Swiss Diamond, Vera Wang┬«, Victorinox Luggage, Vitamix, Waterford┬«, or Wusthof┬«. Alcoholic beverages excluded where required by law.
aden+anais┬« (select styles), Baby Brezza┬«, Baby JoggerÔäó, BabylettoÔäó, BabymelÔäó, B├ëABA┬«, Bugaboo, BumblerideÔäó, clek┬«, CYBEX, DaVinciÔäó, Destination Maternity┬«, ErgobabyÔäó, Foundations┬«, franklin & benÔäó, HALOÔäó BassinestÔäó, Inglesina┬«, Maxi-Cosi┬«, Million Dollar Baby ClassicÔäó, Mountain Buggy┬«, Nursery WorksÔäó, Oeuf, Orbit Baby┬«, Peg P├ęrego, Petunia Pickle Bottom┬«, Phil & Teds┬«, Quinny┬«, Romero BrittoÔäó, Stokke┬«, storksak┬«, Svan┬«, Under Armour┬«, UPPAbaby┬«, Vera Bradley┬«, diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, or portrait studio services. Bed Bath & Beyond is not affiliated with Chase. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

So the fine print does say something about “the price of gift cards are not counted toward any minimum purchase required, and coupon cannot be applied to such items”, so it may be a YMMV issue. ┬áIf anyone has any experience trying to use the coupon on a gift card purchase, let me know in the comments. ┬áIt doesn’t look like you have to pay with your Chase Freedom card, though if you haven’t met your $1500 in 5x bonused spend this quarter, it’s probably the best card to do so.

I can’t say if this is targeted or not, but if you’re a Chase Freedom cardholder, you’ll definitely want to check your email for a coupon. ┬á(EDIT: Does appear targeted)
