When you think of the Greek isles you probably picture Santorini in your mind. Beautiful chalk white buildings overlooking pristine blue water – it’s the definition of luxurious relaxation. Summertime fares to the island are usually well above $1000 even in basic economy, but right now American Airlines and her OneWorld partners are holding a sale from New York City. It’s almost 2 sales really: on select dates in June and July flights are as low as $759; then, in late August, prices drop to $575 round trip, a fantastic bargain. For $110 more you can move from basic economy (which includes a carry-on) to main cabin for seat selection, but then again how many clothes do you really need during summer in the Aegean?
These fares aren’t available for the full schedule, but there are enough days open that tickets shouldn’t be too difficult to find. At least until prices rise: this rate is about $400 – $700 cheaper than the usual $1200+ full-service airlines charge for this route, and there’s no guarantee this rate will last.
If you’re looking for a place to stay and you have some Hyatt points lying around, Ian mentioned the fabulous On the Rocks as a great option at reasonable rates. And as you might expect, highly rated hotels abound, with several noted below.
