Recently I was transiting through Chicago and had the opportunity to visit the American Airlines Admirals Club ORD H/K Concourses. In this Chicago / ORD American Airlines Admirals Club Lounge Review, I’ll run through the food, wifi speed, seating and other lounge amenities so you can decide if this is worth a visit on your next trip to Chicago.
American Airlines Admirals Club ORD H/K access requirements
To access any American Airlines Admirals Club, you must meet one of three requirements:
- Be an Admirals Club member
- Traveling in First or Business on a qualifying same-day international, transcontinental or other domestic flight marketed and operated by American, a oneworld® airline or marketed by Aer Lingus* and operated by American
- Have American Airlines Platinum or higher status, or Alaska Gold or higher status, and be on a qualifying departing or arriving international flights marketed and operated by American, a oneworld® airline, or marketed by Aer Lingus and operated by American (regardless of cabin).
- Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status through an international carrier
In my case, I was using a one-time pass earned with the Citi Strata Elite card (you get 4 per calendar year).

And even though initially I thought that my one-time passes would not be accepted due to the sign above, it turned out not to be a problem at all.

American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago H/K Location
The American Airlines Admirals Club ORD H/K location is between Concourses H and K, in the crosswalk between gates H6 and K6.

There are actually several Admirals Club locations in Chicago airport. I was told that the H/K location is much bigger / better, which is why I went for this one.

When you enter, there are agents on the ground floor who check you in. Once you are checked in, you go upstairs via the stairway or a bank of elevators. The American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago is open daily between 4:15 a.m. – 10:45 p.m.
American Airlines Chicago Admirals Club airport lounge seating
There are a few seating areas at the American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago H/K. It’s a fairly sizeable club, and bigger than some of the other Admiral’s Clubs at O’Hare.

I ended up sitting at this bank of single desks / cubicles, since I was traveling by myself.

They do also have a “Quiet Area” where you are not allowed to use your cell phone.

American Airlines Admirals Club ORD H/K Review: food
The food at the American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago is similar to that at any other Admirals Club. They have a variety of small finger foods, soups and desserts, but nothing super substantial.

There was a small bar with a variety of alcoholic drinks available.

As well as coffee and water available.

They also had a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which I always prefer over having to order soft drinks at the bar.

American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago wifi
The American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago H/K airport lounge wifi speed was decent, though I forgot to get a screenshot of the wifi speed. I didn’t have any trouble accessing the Internet or watching videos or doing anything else online during my time in the Admirals Club.
American Airlines Admirals Club O’Hare H/K Concourse airport lounge amenities
There were a few amenities including restrooms as well as individual shower suites (which you have to reserve)

There is a Mothers’ Room also available

The Bottom Line – American Airlines Admirals Club Chicago H/K Lounge Review
If you have access to the American Airlines Chicago Admirals Club H/K Lounge, you will almost certainly want to spend some time here. The food is okay though not as good as some of the other lounges like Polaris, Capital One or Centurion lounges. The Wifi is solid and it’s definitely a place worth visiting if you have a layover between flights.

I had a long transit from an international flight heading back home. I did end up splurging on my 15k aa miles and got a day pass to the Flagship lounge. I figured it was worth it having a 4 hr layover. I got bored walking around the terminal a bit. For me, it was totally worth it. Took a much needed hot shower and just relaxed all afternoon. It was pretty crowded since it was a few weeks before the World Cup but still it was nice.
