Southwest has launched another fall/winter sale with some more good deals between city pairs. Check your emails for the subject line “Our $49 sale is on.” The sale is available from Southwest’s website as well. It’s a flash sale, with fares available for 2 more days. It appears that all of SWA’s continental USA cities have deals, but there are no options either to the Hawaiian islands. You you’ll need to plan ahead, though: these fares are for mid-November through February travel.

Typically, the $49 fares are relatively rare, and offset by some fares actually being lower than the lowet advertised rate. This time $49 does seem to be the lowest price, but there are plenty of short trips available at that fare one-way.

Whenever Southwest hosts a sale, make sure you check any existing flights you have already purchased. Southwest has no change fees, and if the sale price is lower you will receive a credit for the difference usable for future SWA fares. Plus, if you are unsure after you buy one off these flights, remember that any fare marketed in the US is free to cancel within 24 hours. But this sale ends in 2 days, and prices are only good until 11:59 M Pacific Time on October 3, so act fast.
