American Express has this promotion periodically where you can earn points by adding authorized users to your cards, and it is back. I received an email on my American Express Gold Card (subject line: Earn 5,000 Membership Rewards® points by adding an Additional Card Member) and there have been reports of similar offers being sent out for other cards.
Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express
This is the offer I was targeted for. The offer states
Add new Additional Card Members to your account through this email and earn 5,000 Membership Rewards® points after they spend $500 in eligible purchases on their Card in their first 3 months of Card Membership (limit 20,000 Membership Rewards® points). Offer ends July 14th, 2019.
There are no annual fees for additional PRG cards (up to the first 5). As a reminder, for American Express, you have to be at least 13 years old to be an Authorized User. Conveniently in my family, I have 3 kids that are at least old, so along with my wife, it’s a perfect number for this offer!!!
