The travel industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus. Routes through the summer have been cut by about 90%. There doesn’t seem to be a clear end in sight. Even if travel and passenger behavior does change forever, there will be a day when we turn the corner and tourism picks back up. As we are all a bit cooped up, I thought it would be interesting to ask some members of the Points With a Crew team a simple question- What are a few of the trips you plan to do once we move beyond the coronavirus? Here is what they said.

Dan Miller, Points With a Crew Founder

A lot of it for me depends on when “it’s safe”. I’d like to get to Hawaii since our first trip was canceled. We were originally planning to go in March. I’d really like to do that before my son leaves for his church mission trip this summer. We also have a Yosemite trip planned for the fall which we are excited about. Lastly, my sister, dad and I were planning on a Europe trip this summer but that is looking questionable at the moment.

I have cruises booked for May, June, and July. None of those looks likely so I now have added August and October. I also have plans to hit Vegas with coworkers as soon as this is over to win (or lose) some money! Two other things that sound nice are hanging on a tropical beach and being able to do something simple like see a hockey game.

Right now, the only thing planned is a Fiji/New Zealand trip in August. I have my fingers crossed that everything cools down by then. Realistically I’ll need a quick weekend trip by the time I’m done with all this isolation — or some serious outside and nature time.  For me this means an Amtrak to NYC or a road trip up to Montreal.  I would also love to make it up to Maine or Vermont.  Besides that, I’m contemplating booking a cruise too with all these sales, but I haven’t decided on the itinerary yet. I’ve set a goal to see every continent by 30 (3 more years) and the travel bans definitely added fuel to that fire since I’m losing precious time!

I’m hoping to do the Miles to Memories meet up in June. Some other trips I hope to enjoy are a visit to Northern Ireland and then a solo trip to Seoul and Shanghai in September. The last Miles to Memories and Seoul/ Shangai trips are planned but the Ireland trip is not. I’d also love to make it to the Faroe Islands this year with a friend, but that is highly unlikely right now.

Luckily, we did a family trip to Spain at the end of February into early March before things got intense. We don’t have anything planned for the rest of the year at this point. We generally do a trip to a city in the northeast every spring, so I’d like to go to NYC or Boston this year. Besides that, it would be nice to get an El Salvador surf trip with buddies on the books and another family trip to Sayulita, Mexico before year end.

Now it’s your turn. Where do you plan to travel once things have normalized? Tell us about your ideas and dream trips in the comments!
