If you are considering getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred with its current welcome offer, you will want to make sure that you are eligible to get the bonus. There are a few conditions that you’ll have to meet in order to earn the welcome offer. There are few things worse than applying for a new card only to find out that you aren’t eligible for the bonus and you wasted that spending (and a hard pull) for nothing. So in this article, we’ll take a look at who is eligible for the bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.

Who Is Eligible For The Chase Sapphire Preferred®

I’ve had a few people reach out to me about the current Chase Sapphire Preferred welcome offer where you can bonus_miles_full. They have been wondering who is eligible for the offer, and this is what I have been telling them. There are basically three conditions that you’ll need to meet:

  1. Be under Chase 5/24 – though there have been reports that for the current offer that some people that are over 5/24 have been approved.
  2. Not be a current cardholder of any Chase Sapphire card – aka the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve
  3. Not have received a new member bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 48 months

I had someone reach out on the Points With a Crew Facebook group asking if she should downgrade her Sapphire Reserve to a Chase Freedom Unlimited before applying. I mentioned the current bonus criteria and indicated that she would need to either cancel her Sapphire Reserve or downgrade it to be eligible for the Sapphire Preferred offer

4 Reasons To Get The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

I think there are 4 main reasons to consider getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card:

  1. An excellent welcome offer – You can bonus_miles_full
  2. Combining Chase Ultimate Rewards points – possibly making your existing Ultimate Rewards points more valuable
  3. Primary Car Rental Insurance – Chase’s rental car insurance saved my parents nearly $1000 when they ran into problems with their rental car.
  4. The flexibility of redeeming Ultimate Rewards points – either use them towards travel or transfer them to Chase’s hotel and airline travel partners
