A few months ago, I wrote about the AirAsia ASEAN pass, which was a new product offered by low-cost carrier AirAsia which allowed for unlimited monthly travel throughout the ASEAN countries (Brunei, Camboida, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Phillipines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam).

In taking a look at Air Asia’s route map, it looks like this could be quite useful to hopping around to different locations throughout Southeast Asia

It’s somewhat of a AirAsia unlimited pass (though it would not include any of the airport taxes and fees, which on tickets like this can make up a pretty healthy part of the ticket price).

According to the original article, the AirAsia ASEAN pass was supposed to come out on January 15th, but I have not seen anything about it yet.

Reaching out on Twitter

So I tweeted out to @AskAirAsia on Twitter

So…. that didn’t say anything really. I looked around on the website (again) and on Facebook, but nothing. I asked again and got a response of

Hi, Thank you for your query and interest on the AirAsia Asean Pass. The product is currently not available for purchase yet and is expected to be made available within the first quarter of this year. We look forward to launch this highly anticipated product commercially and will keep the public posted via our social media platforms. Thank you.

So it sound like the AirAsia ASEAN pass is delayed and not quite available yet.  Too bad, since this is the most popular time of the year to travel to Southeast Asia.  I will keep you posted on any updates!

UPDATE: The AirAsia ASEAN pass is now live – check my updated post for more details
