Last week I wrote a little bit about the value that can be had with rewards program auction sites. Generally, the way to extract the most value from your points is to redeem for travel. However, if there is something you’ve always wanted to experience or tickets for an event are sold out, you might decide the value is higher. SPG Moments currently has a great option if you’ve been wanting to check out a MLB Spring Training game in Mesa, AZ.
Chicago White Sox VS. Chicago Cubs
SPG Moments currently has eight VIP Experience packages available for the Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs spring training game on March 10, 2018. Currently, tickets are unavailable through mlb.com. You can purchase tickets through stubhub where the lowest priced ticket available is $49.
Bidding on the VIP experience from SPG Moments starts at 5,500 Starpoints at the time of writing. Click here to see what the current high bids are. For reference, you can reserve a room at a category 2 property for between 3,000 and 4,000 Starpoints.
What Does It Include?
- Access for two to a pregame tour of Sloan Park in Mesa, AZ
- Two tickets for the Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs spring training game on Saturday, March 10, 2018
- Opportunity for two to play catch in the outfield of Sloan Park immediately following the game
- Opportunity for two to have their picture taken with and autograph from a current Cubs player (player TBD)
Is It Worth It?
This is a question that only you can answer. As I mentioned earlier, the lowest price tickets currently available through Stubhub are $49 a piece which brings the total to at least $98 plus fees. Some category 2 hotels run closer to $150 per night but if you were already planning on going to spring training or if the extra perks are valuable to you, it might just be worth your effort to win.
If you are interested in bidding on this experience, you’ll need to get your offers placed by Thursday, March 1st at 12:00pm EST (that’s noon eastern time).
If sports aren’t your thing, SPG Moments has a wide variety of experiences up for auction. Some that peaked my interest were packages that include dinner at a Michelin Star Restaurant plus kitchen tour, concerts with meet and greets, and so much more. Check out all of the options here.
For more event options, you should also check out the Hilton Honors auction site, Delta SkyMiles Experiences, and Wyndham Rewards Auctions.
Have you ever won a SPG Moments package? What did you think?
