The relatively new World of Hyatt Business credit card is an excellent card that earns World of Hyatt points – perhaps the most valuable type of hotel points. It’s a fairly conservative estimate that a Hyatt point is worth two to three times as much as other hotel points like Hilton, IHG or Marriott. After all, you can regularly book a free night using Hyatt points for 5,000 or 8,000 points at Category 1 or Category 2 Hyatt hotels. Plus, spending on the World of Hyatt Business card can translate directly into elite nights that you can use to qualify for Hyatt status, even up to Globalist status, which is probably the most valuable of all of the hotel elite statuses.

card_name Review – Outstanding Welcome Bonus

One of the best reasons to get any card is the value of the welcome bonus. It’s just so hard to earn an appreciable amount of points when you’re only getting 1 or 2 miles or points per dollar spent. That is why the signup bonuses can be so valuable. Currently the World of Hyatt Business card allows you to earn bonus_miles_full.

This is a tiered bonus where you can earn

  • 60,000 points after spending $5,000 within 3 months
  • 15,000 points after spending $12,000 within 6 months

It’s definitely worth reaching the first category. Whether it would additionally make sense to continue spending to get the additional points will depend on how much you value Hyatt points and what your overall spending looks like. There are arguments to be made in both cases.

card_name Bonus Spending Categories

Here are the bonus categories for the World of Hyatt Business card

  • 4x World of Hyatt points for spending at Hyatt hotels
  • 2x World of Hyatt points in your top three spending categories each quarter. This is changing starting in 2025, where you’ll then only earn 2x points on your top two spending categories
  • 2x World of Hyatt points for fitness clubs and gym memberships
  • 1x World of Hyatt points on all other purchases

The bonus categories aren’t amazing, except for maybe the spending at Hyatt hotels. Chase and Hyatt market that as earning NINE points per dollar at Hyatt hotels, but 5 of the points are just the points you earn from staying at Hyatt. It’s really 4x on the card.

Benefits And Perks

The World of Hyatt Business credit card has a number of different benefits and perks that you might want to take advantage of:

  • Up to $100 in Hyatt statement credits – spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property and earn $50 statement credits up to two times each anniversary year.
  • World of Hyatt Discoverist status for as long as your account is open. Plus, Discoverist status to up to five employees
  • You can get 10% of your redeemed points (up to 20,000 points per year) back, after you spend $50,000 or more on the World of Hyatt Business Card in a calendar year

Earning Hyatt Elite Status

But possibly the biggest perk with the World of Hyatt Business card is that you can use spending on the card to help you earn elite status. You’ll get 5 Tier-Qualifying night credits toward status and Milestone rewards for every $10,000 you spend in a calendar year. If you’re a heavy spender, that could help you requalify for elite status all on its own. Or, if you have been earning stay credit organically, it might be able to help you top off your elite status to the next level.

Other Credit Cards To Earn Hyatt Points

You can also earn Hyatt points with the personal version of the World of Hyatt card as well as from premium Chase cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points. With a premium Chase card you can transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt (and other partners) on a 1:1 basis:

  • card_name – bonus_miles_full annual_fees
  • card_name – bonus_miles_full annual_fees
  • World of Hyatt card – 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. $95 annual fee

The Bottom Line

The World of Hyatt Business card comes with an outstanding welcome offer, and offers you the ability to spend your way to elite status. While it’s not an amazing card to put everyday spend on, it does give bonus points in the categories where you spend the most. That adaptive way of earning points can help boost your points balance, but it also can mean that there may be other travel credit cards that can earn more over time.
