It’s time for a year end recap and so I thought I’d do a quick recap of 12 of the amazing sights I saw this year. Almost all of these were done for very cheap thanks to points and miles

Athens Greece

In March, my oldest son and I took a trip to Athens Greece (flight delayed due to snowstorm). Our Airbnb was awesome (even if I’m the dumbest AirBnb guest ever), with an amazing view from the balcony

Remember you can get $40 off your first AirBnb stay with my code. We also took a day trip up to the monasteries of Meteora, which were jawdropping

Canton for the Pro Football Hall of Fame

In June, our family took a trip up to northern Ohio in part to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Denver / Frontier

Later in June, Barclays and Frontier flew our family out to Denver to review the new Barclays Frontier credit card. We took a tour of the Frontier Airlines hangar and liked our pic there so much we turned it into our Christmas card 🙂

Nauvoo

In July, our family of 8 took a roadtrip out to western Illinois to visit some of the historical pageants and information of Nauvoo Illinois

New York City

I actually went to New York City a few times this year

Our favorite trip was probably with my daughter for the opening gala of the new TPG Family section

Legoland Denmark

In August, my son and I took a trip to Europe – we visited 7 different countries (though most of our time was spent in Denmark and Belgium

Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau

Two of those 7 European countries were Belgium and the Netherlands, and I was happy to check off a bucket list item by visiting the heavily enclaved towns of Baarle-Hertog an Baarle-Nassau. Here I’m enjoying an ice cream in two different countries at once!

The (not) Hello Kitty business class plane to Taiwan

In September, I used 95,000 ANA miles each (transferred from American Express) to book my daughter and I in business class to Taiwan and China. I thought I had it set to be on the Hello Kitty plane from EVA Air but… somehow I screwed that up and it was just “normal” business class. Although my daughter was initially disappointed by the lack of Hello Kitty, I think she got over it…

Great Wall

The definitive #1 thing on our trip to Taiwan and Beijing was the toboggan ride down from the Great Wall

The Great Wall itself wasn’t too bad either… 🙂

Boston

In early November, Barclays once again flew me out to a trip – this time to talk about the new Barclays UPromise card. It was great to see some sights in Boston and New York City and meet old friends and make some new ones. Plus, one night we stayed in a former prison…

All-inclusive resorts in Jamaica

For Thanksgiving, my only requirement was to book somewhere warm where I could just relax on the beach and do nothing.  So many of my vacations are go, go go – this time I wanted one where I could be much more relaxed. Mission accomplished!

Kentucky

I finished out the year in travel by going with my daughter on a county collecting trip to Kentucky and Virginia.

After picking up my final 15 counties in Kentucky and 7 more in Virginia, I have now visited every US county within about a 230 mile radius of my house.  And most importantly, I learned that hotels are never located inside Walmart parking lots.

So what about you? What were the best sights you saw in 2018? Leave them in the comments
