Signing up for credit cards can be one of the most lucrative ways to earn lots of miles and points, and credit card “churns” are one of the staples of my earning philosophy.  Now, having said that, I always urge people just starting out to only go as fast as they understand what they’re doing, to begin with the end in mind, and above all, do NOT JUST SIGN UP FOR A CREDIT CARD BECAUSE SOME GUY ON THE INTERNET SAID IT WAS A GOOD IDEA!!!

There are often what are considered “public” offers, which are displayed on the bank’s main website, or through affiliate channels such as creditcards.com, and then sometimes there are “hidden” offers that are harder to find.  Here are 3 currently available hidden offers that you may be able to get that are better than the publicly available offers

The current best available offer for the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® offer is for 50,000 points.  Running with Miles reports that there is a targeted offer for a 60,000 point signup bonus.  If you have not been targeted for this 60,000 point offer, there are also several reports of people applying for the regular 50,000 point offer and then sending a secure message to Citibank asking to be matched to the 60K offer, and receiving the additional 10,000 American AAdvantage miles

IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card 80,000 point offer

The current best public offer for the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card is 60,000 points plus a statement credit for $50, but there are also ways to get an offer of 80,000 points.  Doctor of Credit has the full scoop on the different options.  There is a phone number that you can call, as well as people have also had success getting it matched via secure message, similar to the Citi AA offer.

The IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit card is a good one to get – if you’re playing this game in “2 player mode”, I recommend you both sign up for one at the same time, even though I do sometimes wonder why people think free hotel nights are a good idea
The Citi ThankYou® Premier Card has long had a signup bonus of 50,000 ThankYou points but recently that bonus has dropped down to only 40,000 points.  DemFlyers has found a working application link that still shows the 50,000 point bonus.  Citi has often kept these old application pages up for quite some time, but of course there is no way to guarantee that it will stay up for any long period of time

Hope this helps.  Note that none of these offers above pay me any commission, but if you are applying for any other credit cards, I do appreciate it if/when you use my creditcards.com links (but make sure that it’s the best available offer!)
