Alaska Airlines announced on this week that it is forming a new partnership with Singapore Airlines, a top carrier from Asia and the most awarded airlines in the world. This is the 3rd global partnership Alaska formed this year – besides with Finland’s flag carrier Finnair and Germany’s Condor.

Virgin America flyers have enjoyed frequent flyer benefits with Singapore Airlines since 2013. As Alaska Airlines continue to integrate Virgin’s operation and frequent flyer program into their own, it really is great to see the partnership with Singapore Airlines continues.

Singapore Airlines is known for its premium inflight services. It operates six nonstop routes out of U.S, including:

  • San Francisco to Hong Kong
  • San Francisco to Singapore
  • Los Angeles to Seoul
  • Los Angeles to Tokyo
  • Houston to Manchester U.K.
  • New York JFK to Frankfurt Germany

MileagePlan members can start earning miles on Singapore Airlines flights on September 27, and miles flown will count towards MileagePlan status. Below is the MileagePlan earning chart for flights operated by Singapore Airlines:

Award travel on Singapore Airlines using Alaska miles will be introduced later this fall. It would be interesting to see if premium classes will be included, as Singapore Airlines only release business and first class award seats to members of its own frequent flyer program.
