I am mostly staying out of the Cyber Monday deals, just because I’m such a cheapskate that I hate spending money at all 🙂
I was mildly tempted by the reselling opportunities of the 18x United Miles for Rosetta Stone (as reported by Running With Miles), but I can only seem to get the $199 price and with tax it is really cutting into the margins…
Anyway, one thing that I will probably enter is the SPG Cyber Monday sweepstakes. I first read about this on Points, Miles and Martinis. It’s being run through their Starwood Hotels Travel Exclusives Facebook page.
You can win a night’s stay at 60 different upscale hotels, or the grand prize of 225,000 Starpoints. Personally, I generally prefer the more “budget” hotels, since when I stay at a “nice” hotel, I get charged for breakfast, wi-fi and other things that many hotels give for free

According to Magic of Miles, there are also some other prizes, including 6 night stay in Tahiti (3 nights at Le Meridien Bora Bora and 3 nights at Le Meridien Tahiti).
The contest starts at 9 a.m. Eastern time over on the Starwood Hotels Travel Exclusives Facebook page.
Good luck!

I agree with you. When I travel in North America or Europe I tend to stay in budget hotels where a basic breakfast is free. However, when I’m in Africa or South America or Asia, where luxury hotels tend to be cheaper, I will stay at chain hotels by using my points.
I just hate getting “jobbed” for things that “should” be free…
