Even at Office Max, Free money is always easy!

It’s….. BACK! You may have heard about this a few days ago when the weekly ads first came out, but I thought I’d wait a few days to post about it in case you’ve forgotten about it.  Downside of that is that oftentimes these deals sell out of the $200 gift cards….  As always, I prefer to announce this as a Mad Lib, because these deals are pretty much all the same, with a few minor changes.

Solve the Mad Lib

Save _____ (amount) when you buy _______ (purchase amount) in _______ (type) Gift Cards at _______.  Refund will be given in ___________

This time, the Mad Lib answers are:

1) $20

2) $300

3) VISA or Mastercard

4) Office Max

5) Instant discount

In case you didn’t follow along, if you buy $300 in Visa or Mastercard gift cards this week or next week at Office Max you’ll get $20 taken off your order instantly.  Note that this is an Office Max only deal – even though Office Depot is the same company, this deal is NOT good at Office Depot.

How to maximize the Office Max free money deal

The instant discount deals are the best ones because there is usually no limit to the number of times you can do the deal (YMMV with the store as there is a posted limit of 2 offers per household / business)

Definitely I would recommend using a Chase Ink or other card that gives 5x points on office supply stores.  I love the Chase Inks for exactly this reason, not to mention the fact that you can get 2 free airport lounge visits – read our report of the Club at ATL that we got into for free!

I would also recommend 2 $200 card (if they have them) – the activation fee is $1 more, but IMO that is worth the 500 extra points you’d get.

Unlike past deals, the discount supposedly will only come off once per transaction, so you can’t buy 3 $200 cards at once and get $30 off of your $600 purchase, which would be the best deal.

Doing the math

If you find and buy 2 $200 Visa cards, you will get $20 off and pay a total of $393.90, but then receive

Definitely worth a stop to Office Max this week!! I just with the Office Maxes in Cincinnati were more conveniently located! 🙁
