Rental car companies have a very cyclical business.  In the summer months, they need lots of rental cars in the northern part of the country.  In winter, they need those same rental cars in warm places like Florida and Arizona.  Very few people want to rent a car in upstate New York in the middle of winter! 🙂

So instead of paying companies to haul their cars back and forth in the spring and fall, they pay US, the consumers, in very cheap one way car rental deals.  I have written several times before about one way car rental deals either to/from Florida.  In fact, I maintain a page of cheap one way car rental discount codesthat I try and maintain with active and historical one way car rental deals, so you can know when and where to expect these types of deals.

Via the Autoslash blog, I’ve learned that these Fall 2017 one way car rental deals are BACK!

Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty one way car rental deals

HertzInvalid request error occurred., DollarInvalid request error occurred. and Thrifty are running the same promotion (since they are all the same company!).  Here are the details – all of these are pickups from airport locations, and it’s phased in by location

All cars must be reserved by December 10th and can be dropped off at Miami (MIA), Tallahassee (TLH), Jacksonville (JAX), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), Palm Beach (PBI), Sarasota / Bradenton (SRQ), or Tampa (TPA) airports.  Rentals can be for a maximum of 14 days.  Economy to Full-size car options are available.  Just don’t try to book these for the eclipse!

Graphically, here is a look at it, courtsey of gcmap.com – green, red or blue determines the available pickup dates

I’ve put them all to Jacksonville in the picture but of course the car can be returned to any of the above Florida locations

Good luck booking some one way car rental deals – I am looking at a possible county trip through North and South Carolina
