(UPDATE: Thanks for all the enthusiasm – we have received many qualified applicants and are no longer accepting new applicants)

First of all, a big thanks to all of my readers – it still very much amazes me that there are lots of people out there that seem to enjoy my writing and stop by to read Points With a Crew.  When I started the site a few years ago, it was because it seemed like most of the miles and points / travel blogs out there were written by single guys or couples with no kids.  I wanted to provide a voice to families to let people know that you don’t HAVE to always travel first class or stay in 5 star hotels. It is OKAY to drive to your vacation and stay in a Holiday Inn Express (but not a Holiday Inn)

And that is all still very true – although there are a few more family travel / miles and points blogs out there, it’s still a space very dominated by the childless.  And I still really enjoy helping people realize that they CAN take that trip they’ve always wanted to take

Who we’re looking for

In late 2016, we hired 3 new writers (Sam, Ian and Sharon) and they will be continuing to write.  But we’re now looking for a few additional voices. PWaC is looking to hire 1-3 additional travel writers to write articles here on the site.  We’re looking for writers knowledgeable and interested in writing in topics such as:

  • Trip reports
  • Deals
  • MS
  • Something else?  If you’re passionate about something travel-related, make your pitch!)

We are looking for people that are ALREADY knowledgeable about travel, miles and points and who have a passion and talent for writing.  The ideal candidates would be either a) someone who is already online all the time reading about miles and points and/or b) people that enjoy documenting their own travelers but don’t have a current outlet to do so (or are looking for a bigger audience)

The position is a paid position and will pay based on the popularity of the articles you write (rather than a flat fee per post).  I wouldn’t count on getting rich off of this but it’s a little something.  One other thing that some of the other writers have mentioned as a positive is being able to write things that people actually read (which isn’t always a good thing!)

What this means

What I’m hopeful for this is that we can add additional good content to Points With a Crew.  I’ve got my own style and perspective, and I feel like it would be useful to get other perspectives on the travel and miles and points world.

While we are looking for 1-3 travel writers, it doesn’t mean that we will hire someone just to hire them – if we don’t get any qualified applicants, we won’t move forward.

What this does not mean

Don’t worry – I’m not going anywhere!  I still plan on writing just as much as I have been, and covering a wide variety of topics including family travel, miles and points, credit cards, deals and more.

On the other hand, if you have been reading along hoping I would stop posting, well then… sorry to disappoint 🙂

How to apply

If you’re interested, send me an email at dan at pointswithacrew dot com.  Include

  • Your travel resume (examples of your knowledge of miles and points and / or travel itineraries)
  • Your writing resume (either writing samples or references to your writing ability)
  • Which of the travel niches (trip reports, deals, MS, other) you’re interested in writing about – select all that apply
  • Your favorite flavor of ice cream
  • Anything and everything else that would help us get to know you

Depending on how many applicants we get, I’ll be in touch with people moving forward within the next week or two.

So if you’re interested in travel writing, let’s get in touch!
