Single women taxi trouble, hilarious hotel requests, inaugural flights, selfie sticks, and a new beta program

Here is some of the best travel news and notes from around the Internet:

• There are many #avgeeks that try to get on an “inaugural flight” for a particular airline, aircraft or route.  Personally, I have not yet bothered with that, but I enjoyed One Mile at a Time’s writeup of whether you should bother with an inaugural flight
• I’ve seen similar image compilations before, but this was a hilarious compilation of hotels honoring silly requests (seen from PFDigest on Twitter)

• If you’re a woman traveling alone, you should definitely read the Deal Mommy’s cautionary tale about a rogue taxi driver in Rome.  We were just in Rome last month but actually didn’t take any taxis (we got around on foot and by subway or bus).  If you’re heading to Rome, you might be interested in my pro-tip on how to beat the lines when visiting the Colosseum

• Speaking of Rome and the Colosseum – it’s one of the places where selfie sticks are banned.  I’m quoted in an article on TheStreet.com talking about places where selfie sticks are banned
