I receive an email from Marriott last week. They want to give me a free night for my upcoming birthday, but like everything else, there is a catch!

Marriott Birthday free night

If your birthday is around the corner, log into your Marriott account and see if you have been targeted with this gift. You will find it under “promotions” in your account details.

Here’s the details for my promotion, which is titled “A Gift to You”:

  • Register within two weeks of receiving the email;
  • Stay one time between the day you register and 06/30/17. The stay must be 3 or more nights and include a Friday or Saturday.
  • Earn a free night certificate for a future stay.
  • Use your free night certificate at any category 1-5 hotel

So to get the “free” night, I need to treat myself for a stay of 3 or more nights at any Marriott hotel. It’s hardly a deal. 🙁 I have a two-week trip to Hawaii next month, but not a single night is at a Marriott property. I have no time to do another 3-night stay somewhere before end of June. So unfortunately this offer is being tossed just like so many other “free” offers. There is really no such thing as “free”!

Is your birthday coming up soon? if so, did you receive a similar offer? And more importantly, will you be able to take advantage of the offer?
