In addition to paid travel and credit card sign-up bonuses, another great way to earn points is through shopping portals. For those of you who may not know, shopping portals give you additional points for buying products through them.

Right now, United is offering a spring bonus promotion, which you can learn about here.
United Airlines Spring Bonus Promotion
This bonus runs from now until May 24th, and you’ll earn 500 bonus miles (on top of the miles your already earn through the portal) when you spend $200.
This bonus is definitely on the lighter side but could be worth it if you have shopping to do at these stores. There are additionally 2 stores (eBags and Kohl’s) that you can get a bonus 100 miles if you spend $50 at either store (you can get 100 bonus miles for each of the 2 stores).
Currently, eBags is offering 10 United miles per dollar spent and Kohl’s is offering 2 United miles per dollar spent. In order to maximize this promotion, you have a couple options:
- Spend $200 at eBags, earn 2,600 United miles
- Spend $150 at eBags and $50 at Kohl’s, earn 2,300 United miles
- Spend $100 at both eBags and Kohl’s, earn 1,900 United miles
- Spend $50 at eBags and $150 at Kohl’s, earn 1,500 United miles
- Spend $200 at Kohl’s, earn 1,000 United miles
If you need a new suitcase, this could be an easy way to pick up 2,600 United miles!

- During the “Treat Yourself Bonus” campaign, which runs from 05/14/18 through 05/24/18 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of 500 MileagePlus® bonus award miles on cumulative qualifying purchases made through the MileagePlus® Shopping mall or from purchases made through MileagePlus® Shopping in-store offers. This one-time bonus award will be based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period: Earn 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $200 or more. - “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles.
