Amazon regularly has different deals where you can get discounts when you shop at Amazon and you pay at least a portion using different kinds of points. There are sometimes offers for using Amex, Citi, Chase or Discover points.
There is currently a deal where you can get up to 40% off if you shop at Amazon using at least 1 Discover point. This is a targeted offer but I saw on Doctor of Credit that more people were recently targeted, so it doesn’t hurt to check to see if you were. The offers vary by account, so even if you’re targeted, you might get a different offer than someone else that is targeted. Sometimes the offers are for a flat amount off (think $15 off a $100 purchase) and sometimes they are for a percentage off (like 40% off your purchase with a maximum discount amount of $40).
How to check if you were targeted
- You have to link your Discover Cashback Bonus Points account to your Amazon account (click here).
- Click to Activate the promotion on your Amazon account (eligibility will vary)
- If you’re not targeted, you will get this message – Thank you for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this invitation-only offer.
- If you are targeted for this offer, you can begin shopping at Amazon:
- Add $30 or more of eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping cart
- Proceed to checkout & select your Discover Card as your payment method
- Select the amount of Discover Cashback Bonus Points you would like to use for the purchase (must use at least 1 point or $.01)
- $10 off $30 discount will be applied to qualifying items at checkout
