Last month, I talked about how Hertz is offering cheap one way car rentals in select markets.  You need to be going to Arizona, Florida, Georgia or South Carolina, but it’s as low as $9.95 / day.  We typically see these cheap one way car rentals in the spring and fall, when rental car companies are looking to get the majority of their fleet to warmer climates (fall) and back north (in the spring)

I actually booked a rental car from Las Vegas to Phoenix for $7.99 / day, or about $52 out the door with taxes and fees for a 3 day car rental.  For a one-way car rental, I thought I had a pretty good deal!

Relocation specials

I’ve long been interested in relocation specials, where companies are looking to move cars from one location to the other.  Often this can be RVs moving from the manufacturer’s site to popular destinations.

Some popular deals for these types of deals are Transfer Car, iMoova and Jucy.  So I was looking through some of those sites, and found the EXACT route that I was looking to go!

Unfortunately, it’s a week or so AFTER I’ll be there, so it won’t quite work out for me.  Also, I’m glad that it offers unlimited miles, as even though the so-called “Estimated Route” is 301 miles, that’s … not quite the route that I’m planning on taking 😛

Remember, as someone trying to visit every COUNTY in the United States, my motto is that “the shortest distance between two points is NO FUN!” (Estimated mileage: 1528 miles). Most of the deals right now seem to be in the western US (and mostly going into Arizona), but I’d imagine that will change throughout the year.

Good luck and let me know if you’re able to find a deal that works out for you!
