I got an email the other day about 3000 bonus IHG points.  It is probably targeted, but several people I know got it, so it may very well be targeted to people with the IHG card

IHG bonus points offer

ihg-bonus-points-offerFine print:

From April 1 through August 31, 2017, you can earn 600 bonus points each month when you spend at least $750 per month with your IHG® Rewards Club Credit Card

All purchases qualify and the offer is automatic, so there’s no need to activate or enroll – just use your card and roll up the points.

But is it worth it?

I would say that this offer would not be worth it in most cases.  $750 of regular spend on a 2% cashback card would be $15, and even with this offer and using your card at a grocery store or gas station (2x), your $750 spend would net you 2100 IHG points.  If you want to buy IHG points at 0.71 cents, you can use the Cash and Points trick to get it even cheaper than that.

The one exception might be if you have spend at an IHG hotel (5x) but even then, you probably were either already planning on using your IHG card for that and if you weren’t, I’m not sure this bonus would be enough to make you want to change your mind.

If you have the IHG card, did you get this offer or a similar one?  Are you planning on taking advantage of it?
