After my trip to Europe, we originally had been scheduled to fly back from Paris directly to our home airport of Cincinnati CVG. But when our flight was cancelled, we ended up flying Air France on the Airbus A350-900 from Paris to Newark CDG-EWR.

We had a layover of a few hours in Newark Airport (EWR) and had the opportunity to visit the Delta Sky Club EWR Lounge.
Delta Sky Club EWR airport lounge location
The Delta Sky Club EWR is in Newark Airport’s brand-new Terminal A. All three terminals at Newark Airport are connected via the Air Train but it is outside security. Also, due to construction, even once we got to Terminal A, we still had to walk a fair distance until we got to the actual terminal building.
Once you’ve gone through security at Terminal A, follow the signs towards the lounges – it’s very near security.
The Delta Sky Club EWR is located near Gate A8. You’ll go up either a flight of stairs or an elevator
The Delta Sky Club EWR is open Sun-Fri from 5:00am to 7:30pm and Saturday from 5:00am to 6:15pm
Delta Sky Club Newark Lounge Access
There are a few ways that you can access the Delta Sky Club EWR or any other Delta Sky Clubs
- Buy a Sky Club Membership
- Delta Diamond Medallion members can select a membership as one of their Choice Benefits
- Have SkyTeam Elite Plus status
- Have the Delta Reserve or American Express Platinum card (though recently cardholders no longer get unlimited access)
- Customers traveling on a domestic Delta One flight
- Customers traveling in Delta One on an international Delta flight or on a domestic flight connecting to/from a same-day international Delta One flight
- Customers traveling on a same-day international First or Business class ticket on a SkyTeam-operated flight.
- In order to qualify for Club access, the customer must be confirmed in the First or Business class cabin for all segments of their journey
It was this last bullet point that was concerning for me personally. Originally, we were booked on a DeltaOne international fight (CDG-CVG). But when our flight was cancelled, we were rebooked on Air France in business class from Paris to Newark but then only in Comfort+ from Newark to Cincinnati. I was not sure if they were going to let us in or not. I was prepared to argue, but when we gave our boarding passes to the lounge staff, they hit some buttons on their system and said we could enter.

The Delta Sky Club EWR seating options are actually quite extensive, and when we were there (in the afternoon from about 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) it was not very crowded. Many of the seating options overlook the terminal area, and it had a nice open air feel to it.
Newark Sky Club airport lounge review: food and drinks
The Delta Sky Club EWR food was decent – certainly above what I’ve seen at some basic Priority Pass lounges (think “The Club”) but not as good as international premium lounges. I was there in the afternoon (between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.) so I am not sure what the food offerings would be at other times in the day.

There is a self-serve soda machine

The Newark Delta Sky Club wifi was easy to access and fast. Unfortunately I did not get a screenshot of the speed, but we had no Internet problems at all.

The Delta Sky Club Newark does not have much in the way of amenities, which makes some sense since Newark is not a focus city for Delta. There are individual all-gender restroom stalls towards the back of the Sky Club.
There is also plenty of charging including both electrical outlets and USB charging.

The Delta Sky Club Newark / EWR airport lounge was a pleasant way to spend our layover in Newark. I rate it quite good and I would definitely recommend it if you are traveling through Newark Liberty airport and have access to the Sky Club.
