Perfect location of Napa Winery Inn

a map of a hotel

Located in north Napa right off St Helena Highway (commonly referred to as Highway 29), Napa Winery Inn is within easy reach of all the wineries and restaurants along Highway 29.

We checked in around 3pm and check-in was quick as there were no one in line. I am a Choice Platinum member and the front desk did not acknowledge that, which was fine with me. We dropped off our luggage in the room and headed right out to St. Helena for wine tasting at Alpha Omega Winery, where our friends are club members. The location of Napa Winery Inn truly was the best for our visit this time, 16 minutes to Alpha Omega and 10 minutes to the town of Yountville for our dinner reservation at French Laundry!

It’s basic but it’s fine

Sure Napa Winery Inn is basic; there is no on-site restaurant, no bar, the pool is tiny, and the room is basic. On the other hand, it is clean and comfortable. Whenever we are in beautiful Napa Valley, we don’t spend much time in the room at all. We normally just need a place to crash at night. For this visit, we needed a place close to Napa downtown, French Laundry, and Alpha Omega. Napa Winery Inn served our needs perfectly!

The room is equipped with a microwave, a small refrigerator, and a Keurig machine with coffee,  hot chocolate K-cups. We didn’t use any of it, since we got back late after dinner and headed home early the next morning to beat the terrible Bay Area traffic.

The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant onside, but it shares the parking lot with the Brazilian Steakhouse Galpao Gaucho, and is within walking distance to Fume Bistro, a popular restaurant in north Napa.

My Choice points purchased through Daily Getaway

I don’t usually stay at Choice hotels, but I always like having a diversified pool of hotel (and airline) points just in case. Over the years, I have been buying Choice points through Daily Getaway for less than $0.5 cents per point.

a close up of a hotel

Normally the hotel does require a two-night minimum stay on weekends. But on Tuesday the week of our stay, I happened to check the website and there were two queen-bed rooms available for just Saturday night. Cash rates were $280 plus taxes and fees, or 30,000 points each. I purchased my Choice points for less than $0.5 cents per point, so our room was less than $150 each. I quickly cancelled my reservation for two rooms at the Embassy Suites which cost 70,000 Hilton points each (the Hilton points were purchased also at less than $0.5 cents each during Daily Getaway this year). Our dinner at French Laundry was over $1,000 for just two of us. So any savings for hotel definitely helped the bank!

Conclusion

Napa Winery InnInvalid request error occurred. is a great hotel for Napa Valley. At the cost of just 30,000 Choice points per tonight, it is a great valIe for weekend getaways to the wine country. I will definitely return.
