Hotels and airlines often offer what they call a status match program. Because these hotels and airlines are often competing for the same travelers, there is an incentive to try and peel off a competitor’s top customers. But if you think about a top-tier elite traveler who holds, say, Hyatt Globalist status, they’re probably not willing to switch to Hilton unless they also get some of the similar benefits at Hilton.

Sometimes the status match is a direct status match, where the hotel or airline will just grant elite status right away based on your existing status level with a competitor. Other times, they’ll give out a provisional status for 90 days or so and require you to take a certain number of flights or make a certain number of stays within this period to keep your status.
Frontier Airlines elite status match 2023
Frontier Airlines has just announced that they are now matching elite status from many other airlines and hotel programs. They are matching from 45 different airlines, hotels and cruise lines. This even includes some of the mid-tier hotel statuses that you can get for free with various credit cards.
In order to take advantage of this Frontier Airlines status match, here the steps that you need to take:
- Sign up for Frontier Miles if you haven’t already
- Complete the elite status match form at frontierstatusmatch.com by December 31
- Matched status lasts through December 31, 2024
- The Frontier Status Match application fee is $99 to verify and validate applications at 20k and 50k. There is a $149 application fee to verify and validate applications for 100k status. An additional $50 fee will be applied if your Frontier account has received a status match since November 1, 2020.
- Frontier says that it should take 24-48 hours to match the status
What is Frontier Airlines elite status worth?
Frontier has four different elite status levels, each with their own series of perks and benefits. As you can see below, starting in 2024 they have renamed their status levels. Instead of Elite 20K, 50K or 100K they have more “traditional” levels called Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.
Since Frontier typically has very low fares along with charging fees for things like seat assignments, checked or carry-on bags or priority boarding, having elite status can really make a big difference. This is especially true if you have top-tier status with another airline and can match to the Diamond level. Getting the WORKS bundle not only for yourself but for up to 6 people in your party can be a big deal – possibly saving hundreds of dollars on each flight.
Should you take advantage of this Frontier Airlines elite status match?

Having an application fee is something that is unusual for a status match, but it’s probably in place to make sure that you have a bit of skin in the game and actual plans to fly on Frontier. Normally I would say that if you have the ability to take advantage of a status match that you should go for it, since there isn’t typically any downside.

$99 or even $149 is not a huge amount, and you can easily make up for that with the bag and seat fees that you could save with only one Frontier flight. For myself, Frontier elite status is the only elite status that I have ever personally had. I got Frontier top-tier Elite 100k status by way of a status challenge a few years ago and it was well worth it – being able to get free seat assignments and free checked bags will make even $149 well worth it with just one flight as a family.

Heck no. Not paying a fee for a status match even with the reasons you listed.
This is an amazing deal. One round trip flight on Frontier for a family of 4 and the fee pays for itself!

Wouldn’t a status challenge require that you have status? Or was it one of those “fly twice and we’ll give you X status” sort of things?
