I grew up watching mostly soccer and volleyball. The past ten years I was at more water polo and soccer games than any other sports because of my kids. The last six years both baseball and basketball were added to my watch list as my Bay Area teams won their national titles. This year, football got added to the list because my daughter has already been admitted to an university where football is big, and our local team, the Oakland Raiders, are doing really well. So, picture me sitting in front the TV on Saturdays and Sundays, screaming and yelling, and the rest of the family just shakes their head and roll their eyes at me!

My obsession with points always leads me to investigate what unique experience my points might bring me. I have my eyes on the Formula One experience through SPG for years. I knew about the SPG moments for throwing the first pitch at the World Series Game 7, but I don’t have one million SPG points to spare.

Marriott Marketplace is currently running auctions for two unique Experience packages to the Super Bow LI, one is currently going for 650,000 points for the package that includes two suite tickets, three-night hotel, airfare and $100 visa gift card, or the other for 632,000 points for the similar package except for four people (better deal, ha!). Auction ends January 10, 2017 and I am curious to see what price they end up at. I don’t have that kind of points, but hey, maybe you do? You can also transfer SPG points to Marriott at 1:3 ratio.

Just because you and I maybe Marriott points poor, it does not mean we are completely out of luck. Marriott is running a Mobile Requests Sweepstakes where you can win tickets to the Super Bowl by using their app. All you need to do is to use the app for your upcoming stay, before, during, or even after your stay, order towels and amenities, request early check-in or late check-out, etc. Complete details can be found here.
