Here we are in February again and it’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day plans. Did you know that it’s possible, and sometimes quite easy, to earn some extra miles while shopping for Valentine’s Day gifts? If not, then you are in luck because we have some ideas to share!

Valentine’s Day with Miles and Points

In the past, my husband and I have been known to wait until February 15th to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Restaurants are less crowded and all of the flowers and chocolates are on sale. It’s a win win!

Once we realized that there were so many different promotions to take advantage of before Valentine’s Day, we decided it would be silly of us to not take advantage of the extra points and miles that could be earned. Afterall, nothing is more romantic than taking a trip to Paris or Hawaii.

Historical Deals / Examples

In the last couple of years, my family and I have enjoyed some of the perks of Valentine’s Day deals. I think our favorite was a Southwest and 1-800-Flowers promotion which allowed us to earn companion passes for three out of the five members of our family. Yes, even our five year old was able to get his own companion pass.

While the exact promotions we took advantage of aren’t currently valid, you can find more details about what we did over on this Frequent Miler post. Maybe it will get you thinking of the possibilities with some of the offers that are out there right now.

Here is a post from awhile back on Mommy Points that also gives some great ideas of what type of deals there have been in past years.

Here are some examples to get you started. We will continue to update this list as we find more great deals so make sure you come back!

No matter how you choose to spend your Valentine’s Day, you might as well save a little money and rack up some miles and points along the way.
